Tang Shiqi serves at Peking University as Director of the Institute of Area Studies and Dean of the School of International Studies. He has been committed to the studies on Western political philosophy, comparative thought, and comparative politics. His works include State and Society: a Comparative Study of Theories and Practices of Socialist States (1998), American Government and Politics (1998), Globalization and Territoriality: State and Society in Economic Globalization (2008), The History of Western Political Thought (First Edition in 2002, Second Edition in 2010), Rationalism in Politics: Its origin, evolution and Sublation (2020), and World Polities in Transition 1979-2009 (2011) (co-edition).
