Book Launch and Symposium on Rethinking the United States in a New Era: Contemporary Reflections

On July 16, 2022, the new book launch and symposium on "Rethinking the United States in a New Era: Contemporary Reflections" hosted by Institute of Area Studies, Peking University (PKUIAS) and Jiangsu People's Publishing House was successfully held online. 


Prof. Qian Chengdan, director of PKUIAS,  Wang Baoding, President of Jiangsu People’s Publishing House, Prof. Liang Maoxin from the Institute of American Studies of Northeast Normal University, Prof. Zhu Wenli from School of International Studies, PKU, Prof. Tian Lei from East China Normal University Law School, Prof. Wang Lixin from the Department of History, PKU, and Associate Professor Niu Ke from the Department of History, PKU attended the symposium. Book authors such as Prof. Wang Xi, Department of History, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Research Fellow Zhao Mei at Institute of American Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Prof. Da Wei, Department of International Relations, School of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University, Associate Professor Diao Daming, School of International Relations, Renmin University of China, and Associate Professor Liu Yu from Department of Political Science, School of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University , Research Fellow Zhang Yeliang from the Academic Committee at China-US Relations Research Center, Tsinghua University, the lecturer Zhang Dapeng from the Department of History at Jinan University, Zhang Yi, partner of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, US and Zhao Mengyang, PhD candidate of the Department of Sociology, University of Pennsylvania also attended the meeting. The symposium included three parts: new book launch, academic discussion and interaction. The symposium was co-chaired by Prof. Wang Xi and the research fellow Zhao Mei.
