On November 22, 2023, the Institute of Area Studies, Peking University (PKUIAS) held the 13th lecture in its “Adventus amicorum” series online.

The 5th lecture of the Youth Salon series of the Institute of Area Studies, Peking University (PKUIAS), was held on November 23, 2023. Xie Yue, a PhD candidate from the Department of History of Art and Architecture of Harvard University, shared her thoughts on “Islamic Art and Architecture at the Intersection of Civilizations: From World History to the University Square of Samarkand.”

The 12th lecture in the “Adventus Amicorum” salon series was held by the Institute of Area Studies, Peking University (PKUIAS), on November 14, 2023. Lorenzo Marsili, director of the Berggruen Institute Europe, shared his thoughts on the topic, “The Crisis in the Global Order and New Agendas for European and Chinese Intellectuals.”

The Institute of Area Studies, Peking University (PKUIAS) held its 11th lecture of the “Adventus Amicorum” series on November 14. The event invited the eight core members of Bank Indonesia’s Senior Executive Service Program (SESPIBI) to participate.

The Institute of Area Studies, Peking University (PKUIAS) held the 10th lecture of its Adventus Amicorum series on November 7, 2023. Tran Duc Binh, the current Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN, and 21 members of Binh’s delegation were invited to the forum.

The sixth lecture in the series "Autonomous Knowledge System Construction and New Perspectives in Area Studies," themed "Mapping the Evolution of East Asian Populations by Ancient DNA," was held at the School of International Studies, Peking University on November 2, 2023. The seminar was hosted by Fu Qiaomei, a research fellow from the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and chaired by Lei Shaohua, an associate professor at the School of International Studies, Peking University.

The Institute of Area Studies, Peking University (PKUIAS), hosted the fifth session in its series “Building Autonomous Knowledge Systems and New Perspectives in Area Studies” on November 1, 2023. It was led by Prof. Guan Kai, dean of the School of Ethnology and Sociology at Minzu University of China, and moderated by Prof. Zan Tao, deputy director of PKUIAS and professor in the History Department of PKU.
