The 10th lecture of the seminar series “Autonomous Knowledge System Construction and New Perspectives in Area Studies" was held at Peking University (PKU) on December 13. Entitled “Questions on developing an Autonomous Knowledge System for Area Studies: Research and Reflection on the Modern History of the Central Asian Steppe,”

The ninth lecture in the seminar series “Autonomous Knowledge System Construction and New Perspectives in Area Studies,” themed “Orientalism, Nationalism and Post-colonialism: Ideology and Discourse Shift in Indian Studies,” co-hosted by the Institute of Areas Studies, Peking University (PKUIAS) and the Chen Hansheng Center for the Study of World Political Economy (CCPE), kicked off on December 7.

The 5th lecture of the Youth Salon series of the Institute of Area Studies, Peking University (PKUIAS), was held on November 23, 2023. Xie Yue, a PhD candidate from the Department of History of Art and Architecture of Harvard University, shared her thoughts on “Islamic Art and Architecture at the Intersection of Civilizations: From World History to the University Square of Samarkand.”

The 12th lecture in the “Adventus Amicorum” salon series was held by the Institute of Area Studies, Peking University (PKUIAS), on November 14, 2023. Lorenzo Marsili, director of the Berggruen Institute Europe, shared his thoughts on the topic, “The Crisis in the Global Order and New Agendas for European and Chinese Intellectuals.”
